THEY BUILDED HOMES OF BEAUTY

Like the great Methodist hymn goes “now praise we great and famous men, the father’s named in story” the great and mighty brick walls stand tall, calling to the many eyes and taking breaths away. Take a look at me they called just as the innocent child calls to her mother whenever clad in new clothes. It reminds us all that indeed there is a child in us all and we stand rooted to the spot.

I took a walk down the walk of fame and boy did I nearly pass out as the beautifully manicured lawns called to me with neat gentlemen as security one would think he or she died and went to heaven. This heaven got me thinking as usual about my favourite topic. Aviation! Yes you guessed right and right now I’m wondering how safe is too safe for homes, shopping centers, schools to be located near airports.
In recent times there have been a few casualties or is it more casualties than normal? Well, there was the issue of an aircraft coming in from Nigeria with cargo aboard and a crew of 12 having missed the runway at the kotoka international airport and landed straight on the road hitting right into an oncoming car which was headed from Burma camp to the 37 station and indeed the station is a few meters from the airport.

This cost a number of people their lives and had the Ghanaian populace showing their teeth and telling exactly what they thought without actual thought to situations and the fact that human activities does actually make it difficult for the airport to function properly, had it been that the entire area surrounding the airport had not been inhabited the air craft would have safely skidded to a stop on the street without any casualties except the cabin crew.
It is indeed an unfortunate event but it has to help us wake up and smell the coffee that we do need a change, either move the airport to an isolated ground or relocate the people around the vicinity. This piece is short watch out for a modified belief in our aviation sector.
Hope I have in some way brought you closer to the skies.
Adios catch y’all later!
